The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Department for Drug Control, foiled on Monday an attempt to smuggle 210 A4-sized sheets saturated with narcotic substances into the country, via a postal parcel that arrived by air freight.

The ministry explained in an official statement that the operation was carried out in coordination with the General Administration of Customs, as inspection and examination revealed the sheets despite being disguised as instructional booklets and hidden inside 10 electric lamps.

The operation resulted in the arrest of two suspects of Asian nationality. The recipient of the parcel admitted after being confronted that he was about to hand it over to the second suspect. Additionally, 10 grams of methamphetamine (shabu) and a sensitive scale were found in their possession. The two suspects, along with the seized items, have been referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal measures against them.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior affirmed its continued proactive strikes against drug smugglers and traffickers, and its firm response to all attempts to bring these substances into the country, stressing that it is on the lookout for anyone who dares to tamper with the security of society.
