The Permanent Military Court in Lebanon, presided over by Brigadier General Wassim Fayyad, approved on Wednesday a request to lift the travel ban on artist Fadl Shaker.

Earlier, last Wednesday, the military court in Lebanon approved a request to release Lebanese artist Fadl Shaker on bail pending a number of cases before it, against a financial guarantee.

Lebanese media revealed that the court simultaneously issued a decision banning Shaker from travel.

Sky News Arabia correspondent reported at the time that Shaker moved to a home in an undisclosed location away from the media after leaving his prison.

The court's decision came after Shaker's health deteriorated and he was transferred to the military hospital, following a health crisis he suffered last Tuesday that prevented him from attending his trial session, as announced by his media office and local media.

Fadl Shaker is being tried before the military court judge Brigadier General Wassim Fayyad, who continues to hear witness testimonies in the case known in the media as the 'Abra clashes events,' which took place in June 2013.

The Lebanese artist faces charges of joining the armed group of Ahmad al-Assir, which engaged in clashes with the Lebanese army resulting in casualties.

In a separate judicial track, the Beirut Criminal Court had issued a verdict acquitting Shaker of the charge of attempting to murder Sheikh Hilal Hammoud in the city of Sidon in 2013, after months of deliberations and hearing prosecution and defense witnesses.

The court attributed the acquittal to the lack of legal evidence, the failure of any of the defendants in the case to implicate Shaker, in addition to contradictions in the plaintiff's statements and his previous withdrawal of the lawsuit under what are known as 'waivers'.
