Lebanese army begins deployment in first experimental area in the south
The Lebanese army on Tuesday began deploying in the first experimental area in the south of the country.
Local media reported that "the army entered the town of Zoutar al-Gharbiyeh as part of the implementation of the first phase of the framework agreement."
The US State Department announced yesterday the start of "experimental areas" operations in the villages of Froun, Sarifa, and Zoutar al-Gharbiyeh in southern Lebanon, according to the "tripartite framework" and under the auspices of the Special Military Coordination Group for Lebanon.
These "experimental areas" aim to test the success of the agreed mechanism, before expanding to include other areas in southern Lebanon.
