Masam Removes Over 1,200 Yemeni Mines in One Week
The Saudi King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center's project 'Masam' for clearing Yemeni lands of mines removed 1,207 mines and unexploded ordnance in various regions of Yemen during the first week of July 2026, including 102 anti-tank mines, 34 anti-personnel mines, 1,065 unexploded ordnance, and 6 explosive devices.
The clearance operations were distributed across several Yemeni governorates; the team in Aden governorate removed 30 anti-tank mines, 222 unexploded ordnance, and two improvised explosive devices, while in Al-Mukalla district of Hadramaut governorate, it removed 30 anti-personnel mines and 694 unexploded ordnance.
In Midi district of Hajjah governorate, the team removed two anti-personnel mines, 69 anti-tank mines, 96 unexploded ordnance, and one improvised explosive device. In Qatabah district of Al-Dhale'e governorate, it removed 10 unexploded ordnance and 3 improvised explosive devices.
In Taiz governorate, the team removed one anti-tank mine in Al-Mukha district, 35 unexploded ordnance in Dhubab district, two anti-personnel mines and 8 unexploded ordnance in Salah district, as well as two anti-tank mines in Al-Mudharibah district of Lahj governorate.
With this achievement, the total number of mines removed by the 'Masam' project since its inception has reached 572,332 mines, which had been randomly planted across various Yemeni lands, causing the deaths of innocent civilians including children, women, and the elderly.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, continues its humanitarian efforts to clear Yemeni lands of mines, enhancing civilian safety and contributing to enabling Yemenis to live in security and dignity.
