The Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority has initiated a number of cases, affirming that it continues to monitor and apprehend anyone who transgresses public funds or exploits their position for personal gain or to harm the public interest.

In detail, the official spokesman of the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority stated that the authority has initiated a number of criminal cases during the past period, and legal procedures are being completed against their perpetrators. The most prominent cases are as follows:

In the first case, a citizen (businessman) was arrested for offering an amount of (1,600,000) one million six hundred thousand riyals to a customs clearance agent in exchange for facilitating the entry procedures of 'two shipping containers' via the Islamic Port of Jeddah containing (tobacco), whose import is restricted, and for not paying the government customs duties due on that shipment amounting to (14,000,000) fourteen million riyals.

As for the second case, an employee of the Ministry of Health in one of the regions was arrested for receiving an amount of (900,000) nine hundred thousand riyals in installments in exchange for awarding a number of projects to a commercial entity in an irregular manner.

In the third case, and in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy, a resident working on one of the ministry's projects was arrested at the moment he received an amount of (200,000) two hundred thousand riyals in exchange for not issuing fines and penalties against a commercial entity amounting to (1,500,000) one million five hundred thousand riyals.

For his part, the official spokesman of the authority stated that it continues to monitor and apprehend anyone who transgresses public funds or exploits their position for personal gain or to harm the public interest, and to hold them accountable even after their employment ends, as financial and administrative corruption crimes are not subject to statute of limitations, and that the authority is proceeding to implement the provisions of the law against violators without leniency.
