New US strikes on Iran and killing of Revolutionary Guard members
US forces attacked several areas in Iran, while Tehran targeted sites in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan, increasing pressure on the ceasefire agreement reached three weeks ago.
3 members of the Revolutionary Guard killed
Three soldiers of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard were killed in Khuzestan province in western Iran as a result of a US raid, according to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
For its part, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Navy said in a statement on Thursday that the US attacks on Iran and its interference in changing the navigation course in the Strait of Hormuz hinder the gradual reopening of this strategic waterway and endanger the interests of the countries that benefit from it.
The Revolutionary Guard warned that any further US interference would be met with a 'harsh response'.
An Iranian official reported the deaths of at least three people and injuries to 15 others from US strikes on the port of the city of Sirik in southern Iran, according to Iran's Mehr news agency.
The official said the injured sustained varying degrees of injuries.
New strikes on Iran
The US Central Command said on Thursday that US strikes on Iran aim to undermine its ability to threaten navigation, noting that more than 170 Iranian military targets have been struck over the past two days.
Iranian media reported explosions in the city of Aq Qala in northern Iran, Bandar Abbas and Jask in southern Iran, Isfahan in central Iran, Sirik and Chabahar in southeastern Iran, in addition to Abu Musa Island near the western entrance of the Strait of Hormuz, and areas in Bushehr province.
In a related context, an Iranian official confirmed on Thursday that a US strike targeted the 'vicinity' of the Bushehr nuclear power plant, according to the official IRNA news agency, after Fars news agency reported hearing explosions in the province located in the southwest of the Islamic Republic.
IRNA quoted the deputy governor of Bushehr on Thursday as saying, 'Several areas in Bushehr province were targeted today, including the vicinity of the nuclear power plant, a military base in the town of Choghadak, and a fishing pier in the south of the province,' adding that no reports of casualties have been received so far.
Earlier, residents of Choghadak reported hearing explosions.
Fars news agency said, 'A few minutes ago, a number of residents of Choghadak city, located about twenty kilometers from the Bushehr plant, heard several explosions.'
Authorities have not yet provided any information regarding the exact location of the explosions.
Jordan intercepts Iranian missiles
The Jordanian government announced on Thursday that it had intercepted Iranian missiles that penetrated the country's airspace.
The General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces announced the interception and downing of 8 missiles launched from Iran towards Jordanian territory.
The General Command affirmed that the Kingdom's armed forces are following current regional developments and are operating at the highest level of readiness to protect the Kingdom's airspace and defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Iranian attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense announced that the armed forces successfully intercepted three ballistic missiles, one cruise missile, and ten hostile drones spotted inside Kuwaiti airspace early today, confirming that the interceptions were successful, resulting in limited material damage and one person injured by shrapnel.
The official spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Rukn Saud Al-Attwan, said that the air defense systems engaged the hostile aerial targets as soon as they were detected and were able to intercept and thwart them efficiently.
For its part, the General Command of the Bahrain Defense Force announced that its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed a number of Iranian missiles and drones that targeted the kingdom this morning, Thursday, affirming that all military units are at the highest levels of readiness and preparedness to defend the country and protect its security.
The General Command said in a statement that Iran continues what it described as a 'systematic hostile approach' by launching missile and drone attacks targeting civilians in the Kingdom of Bahrain, noting that the air defense forces, thanks to their high combat readiness, succeeded in confronting and thwarting the attacks.
