(CNN)-- Iranian state media reported that multiple sites in Hormozgan province, southern Iran, including Qeshm Island, Bandar Abbas, and Hajiabad, were attacked on Sunday.
The reports did not identify who launched the attacks, only referring to a 'hostile' attack. CNN has contacted US Central Command for comment. The alleged attacks come amid ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States.
Iran's official news agency IRNA quoted Qeshm Governor saying that between 10 and 11 'enemy' shells hit Qeshm Island since Sunday afternoon. IRNA quoted Hossein Amir Timouri as saying that all targeted sites were military and that there were no casualties on the island.
Later, IRNA reported attacks on other sites belonging to Iranian military installations in Bandar Abbas, Qeshm, and Hajiabad.
In a separate update, the Iranian news agency reported that a maintenance technician working for Iran Mobile Communications was killed while on duty on Farur Island in Bandar Lengeh county in Hormozgan, and two colleagues were injured.
Hormozgan is located in far southern Iran, along the strategic coasts of the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman.
