Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah, signed a joint cooperation agreement with Carl Skau, Acting Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), via video link. This agreement aims to support vulnerable groups in the governorates of Al Mahrah and Hadramawt in the Republic of Yemen.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Dr. Alice Bird, Deputy Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Kingdom, and aims to enhance the resilience of these groups in facing humanitarian challenges.

This support is divided equally between the two sides to support the project in 5 Yemeni governorates.

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the United Kingdom will provide financial support to the World Food Programme worth $10 million. This support is divided equally between the two sides to support the project in the governorates of Al Mahrah, Hadramawt, Aden, Al Dhale'e, and Lahij.

The agreement aims to meet the food needs of the most needy groups by providing asset support activities for beneficiaries. This contributes to improving their access to food, making them less dependent on humanitarian aid through conditional cash transfers.

The terms of the agreement include rehabilitating productive infrastructure, and moving target families from a state of acute food insecurity (Phase 4) to a state of stability and self-reliance. In addition, vocational training programs and skills development for beneficiaries will be implemented to enhance productivity.

The agreement also aims to build the capacity of local authorities and activate governance systems to manage and sustain community assets, thereby promoting sustainable development in the target areas.

This support comes within the framework of the ongoing relief and humanitarian projects and programs provided by the Kingdom, through its humanitarian arm King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, to help the needy and affected people around the world, reaffirming its commitment to international humanitarian efforts.
