On social media platforms, a video clip circulated whose posters claimed it documents attacks recently launched by the Houthi group on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

This wave of misinformation comes amid rising regional tensions and increasing military operations in Yemen.

The video garnered about one million views on X alone, accompanied by a misleading description saying: "The Yemeni Supreme Leadership says these attacks were carried out with old-style missiles, and if the Saudi regime decides to respond to the attacks on Abha and King Khalid Air Base, it will face more deadly and devastating strikes than before, and you in America and Israel take a lesson."

CNN Arabic's investigation revealed that the circulating clip is old and is not related to the wave of missiles launched by the Houthi group on Saudi Arabia.

Through reverse search, a version of the video was found published on YouTube on February 6, i.e., before the outbreak of war between Iran, the United States, and Israel on the 28th of the same month.

A version of the video published on YouTube dated last February 6.

The video does not bear any title or explanatory description, but its scenes match the Al Nasim Bridge area in Riyadh.

An account on TikTok had indicated last February 23 that the video dates back to a fire in the Al Nasim Bridge area in Riyadh, while the account appears to have subsequently removed the clip.

It is worth noting that CNN Arabic had previously exposed the falsity of misleading narratives in which the same video was used, where those narratives claimed the US Embassy in Riyadh was attacked by Iran at the beginning of the war in the region.

The video resurfaced with Saudi Arabia's announcement of intercepting ballistic missiles launched by the Iran-backed Houthi group towards the southern region of the kingdom.

The official spokesman for the Coalition Forces in Yemen, Major General Turki al-Maliki, said in a statement carried by the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA): "Air defenses dealt with a threat from ballistic missiles launched by the terrorist Houthi militia towards the southern region."

On Monday, the Houthis accused Saudi Arabia of launching a series of airstrikes on Sanaa International Airport.

The Houthi strikes come amid the collapse of the ceasefire between the United States and Iran, with both sides exchanging strikes. Washington announced the resumption of the naval blockade, while US President Donald Trump proposed imposing a 20% tariff on goods in exchange for protection in the strait.

The circulation of the video coincides with continued tension between the United States and Iran after the collapse of the ceasefire agreement, increasing the likelihood of such materials being used for propaganda purposes. Media and government entities continue their efforts to refute fake news to maintain information accuracy in public circles.
