New York, July 15 (QNA) - The UN Security Council last night adopted Resolution 2826 (2026), which extends the request to the Secretary-General to submit periodic reports on the implementation of Resolution 2722 (2024) concerning reporting on attacks in the Red Sea, for an additional six months, ending in mid-January next year. Thirteen members of the Security Council voted in favor of the resolution, while Russia and China abstained. The resolution was based on a series of Security Council resolutions on Yemen and the Red Sea. It stipulates extending the reporting request contained in paragraph 10 of Resolution 2722 (2024) until January 15, 2027, ensuring the continued provision of periodic briefings to the Security Council on developments related to the situation in the Red Sea.
