Syrian state television reported on Thursday, quoting Interior Minister Anas Khattab, that the cell responsible for what he described as 'terrorist' bombings in Damascus two days ago has been taken into custody.

Khattab added that the authorities will disclose the identities of the cell members, their roles, and all their connections after the completion of the investigations.

Two bombs exploded on Tuesday near a hotel in Damascus where French President Emmanuel Macron was staying, injuring 18 people and casting a shadow over the first visit by a European Union head of state to Syria since the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad.
