The Ministry of Interior executed today, Tuesday, 7 Safar 1448 AH corresponding to July 21, 2026, the discretionary death sentence against two offenders in the Eastern Province after they were found guilty of smuggling and trafficking amphetamine pills into the Kingdom.

The Ministry stated that the two offenders are Ahmed Mohammed Khadoum Al-Shibli (Omani nationality), who smuggled amphetamine pills, and Haider bin Ali bin Alawi Abu Al-Rahi (Saudi nationality), who brought the same quantity for the purpose of trafficking.

The Ministry added that security authorities were able to arrest the aforementioned offenders, and investigations led to charges being brought against them and a verdict issued by the competent court proving what was attributed to them, sentencing them to discretionary death. It noted that the verdict became final after being appealed and upheld by the Supreme Court, followed by a royal order for its execution.

Emphasis on Protecting Society from Drugs

In the same context, the Ministry of Interior affirmed the Saudi government's keenness to protect the safety of citizens and residents from the scourge of drugs, and to apply the harshest penalties against smugglers and traffickers due to the severe harm they cause to society and individuals.

The Ministry warned anyone who engages in drug smuggling or trafficking that legal punishment will be their fate, stressing the continuation of efforts to combat this crime.
