The death toll from attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz rose to two on Tuesday, according to the International Maritime Organization, after Iran targeted two ships in Omani waters.

The organization said: "We are deeply concerned about the recent attacks on navigation in and around the Strait of Hormuz, which have been reported since last night, resulting in the deaths of at least two sailors and injuries to others."

This came as New Delhi summoned an Iranian diplomat to protest an attack by Iran in the Strait of Hormuz on a ship that killed an Indian sailor.

Earlier, the Omani Maritime Security Center announced that three oil tankers were targeted in separate incidents off the Omani coast, confirming its continuous monitoring of developments and taking necessary measures in coordination with relevant authorities, according to the Oman News Agency.

The center explained that the oil tanker 'Stolt Magnesium' flying the flag of the Republic of Liberia was targeted, resulting in a fire in the engine room, about 40 nautical miles off the coast of South Sharqiyah Governorate and outside Omani territorial waters.

It noted that emergency needs were provided to the tanker, and its crew of 23 were evacuated via a nearby marine vessel, confirming that all crew members are in good health.

The center also reported that the oil tanker 'Mombasa B' flying the flag of the Republic of Liberia was targeted 8.5 nautical miles off the coast of Musandam Governorate, causing it to lose engine power.

It confirmed that a Royal Oman Navy vessel is monitoring the incident, while the tanker's crew of 21 were evacuated via marine vessels near the scene, including 6 with various injuries.

In a third incident, the center announced that the oil tanker 'Al Bahia' owned by Al Bahia Company based in the UAE, also flying the flag of the Republic of Liberia, was targeted 9.6 nautical miles off the coast of Musandam Governorate.

The center clarified that a Royal Oman Navy vessel is monitoring the situation, noting that 18 crew members were evacuated via marine vessels near the scene, while 3 crew members remain missing.
