CNN correspondent Julia Benbrook reports on escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, which have resulted in the deaths of two US soldiers and one soldier missing in action.

In a statement, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said that on July 17, two US soldiers were killed in Jordan during operations as US Central Command and partner forces repelled Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks. Additionally, one service member remains missing in action.

It added that four US soldiers were medically evacuated to Jordanian hospitals and have since been discharged. tdlh Central Command is withholding information about the two soldiers who lost their lives while performing their duties until their families have been notified.

This comes days after escalation in the region, a week marked by mutual escalation, seven consecutive nights of US airstrikes, and a wave of Iranian drones and missiles launched at a growing number of targets in countries hosting US bases.
