Hundreds of Yemenis on Tuesday mourned the bodies of four soldiers killed by Houthi fire in Marib province, central Yemen, according to local media.

State-run Saba channel said Marib city witnessed 'the funeral of four martyrs of the armed forces who fell while performing national duty on the southern front of the province.'

The channel broadcast a video showing hundreds of people attending the funeral, without mentioning the circumstances of their deaths.

However, local media, including the independent Yemen Future website, reported that the four soldiers were killed Monday in a drone strike by Houthis on a military site in the Harib front, south of Marib province.

No statements were issued by the Yemeni army or the Houthi group regarding the incident, which comes amid a notable escalation in Yemen.

Clashes between government forces and Houthis have renewed in recent days in several provinces, including Al-Jawf, Al-Dhale'a, and Taiz, amid mutual threats, while the country faces one of the worst humanitarian and economic crises in the world.

Despite intermittent clashes, Yemen has seen a de-escalation since April 2022 in a war that began over 11 years ago between government forces and the Houthi group, which has controlled provinces and cities, including Sanaa, since September 21, 2014.
