The 2026 Esports World Cup officially kicked off in the French capital Paris, with the opening ceremony held on July 8 at La Seine Musicale, welcoming the world's best players, top esports clubs, game publishers, partners, content creators, and fans to the first international edition of the biggest global gaming and esports event.
The opening ceremony combined music, cinematic storytelling, competitive spirit, and Parisian culture, marking the start of seven weeks of competition featuring over 2,000 players, 200 clubs, and representatives from more than 100 countries, competing in 25 tournaments across 24 games for a record total prize pool of $75 million.
