Al-Nassr first team began training on Sunday at the Dar Al-Nassr training center with five foreign players in the first phase of preparations for the new season, according to sources. The team held its first session under new Australian coach Ange Postecoglou, with local players except internationals, along with Brazilian goalkeeper Bento Matheus, fellow Brazilians Wesley Teixeira and Angelo Gabriel, Spaniard Inigo Martinez, and Frenchman Kingsley Coman, while his compatriot Mohamed Simakan will join on Monday. Postecoglou led the training just hours after arriving in Riyadh following his appointment as head coach, replacing Portuguese Jorge Jesus, who left at the end of last season, which saw the team win the Saudi Roshn League title. Al-Nassr began preparations without its international players, who were given extra rest due to their participation in the 2026 World Cup currently underway in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Those players are: Nawaf Al-Aqidi, Abdul Ilah Al-Omari, Nawaf Boushal, Abdullah Al-Khaibari, Ayman Yahya, Abdullah Al-Hamdan, Senegalese Sadio Mane, and Portuguese duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Joao Felix. The first phase of preparations runs until July 11, followed by a second phase in Abha until July 22, after which the team will travel for an external training camp in Lisbon, Portugal, from July 25 to August 5.
