Australian Ange Postecoglou, head coach of Al-Nassr's first football team, showed great enthusiasm after officially signing his contract with the capital club on Wednesday, while hoping that the upcoming season will be 'the best ever' in his career. Postecoglou took over the coaching of Al-Nassr, succeeding Portuguese Jorge Jesus, who left the club after the end of his one-year contract that saw the Yellow team crowned champions of the Saudi Roshn League. Postecoglou said in a video clip broadcast by the capital club on its official account on the 'X' platform: 'The important thing for me is that I have enjoyed my entire career, and I enjoy taking on new challenges and competitions, working with different people and evolving with that.'
The Australian coach described coaching Al-Nassr as a new opportunity to test himself in a new environment, country, and with a new team, explaining in this regard: 'The challenge is always the same regardless of the team's situation. I have previously supervised teams that were not successful and made them successful, and other teams that were successful and I continued their success. For me, the most important thing was to have a good relationship with the people I worked with at the clubs.'
The new Al-Nassr coach added: 'I am excited about the opportunities ahead of us now and what we can achieve. Al-Nassr's facility is fantastic and great. I was told about the headquarters before my arrival, but now that I am in it, it is a wonderful facility. This is very important because the environment you create for the players and support staff shapes the conditions we will work under.'
Postecoglou continued his talk about Al-Nassr's facility: 'Everything here is exactly as it should be, and most importantly, it seems like an ideal place for a player to come and work daily. I am eager to be part of that. I also have a lot of ambition and aspirations, and I am happy that the club has this ambition. That's why I am here.'
The Australian coach, who previously worked at several clubs including English Tottenham, continued: 'I worked a lot in Asia, and I come from that part of the world. When I worked in Europe, I always said that all the success I achieved was difficult. That doesn't mean it was easy with Asian teams; we faced difficulties and challenges in every tournament we won.'
Regarding his challenges with Al-Nassr in his first season, Postecoglou replied: 'The Saudi league has developed a lot in the past few years. There are now 4, 5, or 6 clubs that are all very competitive and want to win. The AFC Champions League Elite is also a high challenge. So being with a team that has some stability is important.'
Postecoglou touched on Al-Nassr's era under Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus, saying: 'Jesus did an exceptional job last season in winning the league. Now the club is ready to go to the next level, so I am here.'
The Australian coach continued: 'Every year is something new for me. That's how I have achieved a lot of success in my career. In every new season, I started with the same mindset.'
The Al-Nassr coach continued: 'It doesn't matter what I achieved in the past. Winning something is important. Any club or person who wins something and tastes it wants it again. But the important thing is to remember what you did to achieve that and how much hard work and sacrifice you put in.'
Postecoglou added: 'For me, I start every year with the same mindset, and I want it to be the best year ever for me, for the club, and for the people I work with. That's how we will start our work.'
