Jamal Sellami, the former coach of the Jordanian national team, closed the door on Zamalek after leaving the Nashama following an early exit from the 2026 World Cup.

Sellami led the Jordanian national team to the World Cup finals for the first time in its history, but suffered three defeats in the first round at the hands of Austria, Algeria, and Argentina, bidding farewell to the tournament.

Meanwhile, Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, President of the Jordan Football Association and Vice President of FIFA, announced the end of Sellami's tenure with the Jordanian national team, praising his efforts and contribution to achieving the historic feat of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.

The Moroccan website le 360 reported that Zamalek entered negotiations with Sellami in the past few days, but the coach apologized for taking over the job.

According to the same source, the Moroccan coach's decision came after studying the offer presented by Zamalek officials, before deciding not to undertake the experience in the Egyptian league at the current stage.

Zamalek is looking for a new coach to lead them in the upcoming season, as a successor to Mo'tamed Gamal, with whom they won the Egyptian Premier League title last season.

Zamalek tried to follow in the footsteps of Al Ahly by contracting with a Moroccan coach for the first time in its history, but Sellami apologized for not taking on the task at the present time.

Al Ahly had contracted with Hussein Ammouta to lead the Red Team next season, as they seek to regain titles at both the local and African levels.
