Gianni Infantino, President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), sent a special message to the Argentine national team after their loss in the World Cup final last Sunday.

Argentina fell in the final match to Spain 1-0, with a goal scored by Ferran Torres in extra time, thus failing the 'Tango dancers' to defend the world title they won in Qatar in the 2022 edition.

The final match witnessed several violent incidents, most notably the sending off of Enzo Fernandez after his strong tackle on Pau Cubarsi, in addition to Leandro Paredes attacking some Spanish national team players after the final whistle.

The controversy did not stop there, but the Argentine players decided to go to their fans and not follow the Spanish team's lifting of the trophy, a scene that sparked controversy.

Despite these events, Infantino wrote on his Instagram account: 'What an exceptional tournament the Argentine national team presented at the World Cup! An unforgettable comeback and a fighting spirit that inspired millions, and gave football fans around the world timeless moments that will not be erased from memory.'

He concluded: 'Returning to the World Cup final after winning the title in the 2022 edition is the best evidence of the excellence and sustained high levels of Argentine football. Thank you for your contribution in making this tournament very special, and for competing with such great passion until the last moments.'
