Ahead of Official Announcement: Adeyemi Completes Medical Tests at Barcelona
German Karim Adeyemi has completed medical tests for Barcelona, ahead of his official joining the Catalan club in the current summer transfer window.
Adeyemi arrived in Barcelona yesterday afternoon, Wednesday. The Borussia Dortmund winger is set to become Barcelona's second signing this summer after Englishman Anthony Gordon.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the German star arrived early at the Barcelona hospital for medical tests, and about two hours after his arrival, Adeyemi returned to his hotel awaiting further instructions.
Adeyemi will not go to the Barcelona Sports City to meet head coach Hansi Flick, his biggest supporter and the coach who gave him his debut with the German national team, as well as some of his new teammates, until the official announcement of his signing.
After Adeyemi (24) received medical clearance and the exchange of contract drafts between the two clubs for his transfer and official signing, Dortmund will receive a fixed sum of 22 million euros, plus 7 million euros in add-ons.
Although the official announcement is expected today, Thursday, Barcelona has not ruled out the possibility of postponing it to Friday, according to the Catalan newspaper.
However, the presentation ceremony for the German winger will not take place until next week, after Barcelona president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco return from the World Cup final next Sunday, between Spain and Argentina at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Afterwards, Adeyemi will hold his first press conference as a Barcelona player.
