Ajax Amsterdam's management has agreed with the agent of Brazilian Marcos Leonardo, striker of Al Hilal's first football team, to sign a five-year professional contract until 2031, according to the Telegraaf newspaper on Sunday. The Dutch newspaper indicated that Ajax's management is currently in talks with its counterpart at Al Hilal to finalize the deal for the player, who is contracted with the Blue until 2029. The Brazilian striker is prepared to reduce his annual salary to facilitate the transfer, pending agreement among the three parties. Brazilian channel ESPN reported last Friday that Italian Fiorentina and Portuguese Porto are interested in securing Leonardo's services this summer. Leonardo, 23, progressed through the youth ranks of Brazilian club Santos before moving to Portuguese Benfica in January 2024 for a deal worth about 25 million euros. In the summer of the same year, Al Hilal bought his contract for an estimated 40 million euros for five years, and he was registered in the foreign-born quota. In January, Al Hilal's management received an offer from Spanish club Atletico for a loan move, but the deal did not materialize. Since his move to Al Hilal, Leonardo has played 82 matches, scoring 48 goals and providing five assists.
