Al-Ittihad club announced today, Saturday, that its player Ahmed Sharahili suffered an injury described as a tear in the left ankle tendon and will undergo surgery next week in the city of Porto, Portugal.

Al-Ittihad said in a statement published via its official account on the "X" platform: "Medical examinations that the first football team player Ahmed Sharahili underwent before the start of the preparation period for the new sports season showed that he had a tear in the peroneus longus tendon in the left ankle."

New injury for the player

It added: "The player sustained this injury while carrying out an individual preparatory program with his personal trainer during the vacation period, and it is a new injury in a location where he had never been injured before."

It continued: "After consulting with a number of specialized consultants in orthopedic surgery and foot and ankle injuries, it was decided that the player would undergo surgery next week in the city of Porto, Portugal, by a consultant specialized in this type of injury."
