Ahmad Sharahili, defender of Al-Ittihad first football team, will continue to miss training for another period after suffering a new injury that will require surgery next week, as revealed by his club on Saturday. The club stated on its official X account that medical examinations conducted by Sharahili before the start of the pre-season showed a tear in the peroneus longus tendon in his left ankle. Sharahili sustained the injury while carrying out an individual preparatory program with his personal trainer during his injury period, according to the club, which indicated that this is a new injury in a spot he had never been injured before. The club explained that after consultation with several specialized consultants in orthopedic surgery and foot and ankle injuries, it was decided that Sharahili will undergo surgery next week in the city of Porto, Portugal, under a specialist consultant in this type of injury. Sharahili had gradually returned to participation last season after undergoing anterior cruciate ligament surgery, playing 20 matches in various competitions. His last appearance in the Tigers shirt was on May 4, when he played against Al-Kholood in the 31st round of the Saudi Roshn League. After that, he was an unused substitute in two matches before missing the last two rounds of the league due to a knee injury. On the other hand, Abdulrahman Al-Aboud, the Jeddawi team's winger, missed training on Saturday after being granted permission by the administrative and technical staff to be with his mother, who underwent surgery. Al-Ittihad continued its preparations at its stadium under the leadership of its German coach Jens Feising as part of the first phase of the pre-season program. This will be followed by a second phase that includes an external camp in Marbella, Spain, starting next Monday and continuing until July 31, during which the team will play three friendly matches: two against Orlando Pirates of South Africa and Las Palmas of Spain, while the third will be announced later. Al-Ittihad opens its season against Al-Jazira of the UAE at the latter's stadium in Abu Dhabi on August 11 as part of the qualifiers for the AFC Champions League Elite.
