Bandar Al-Muqail, president of Saudi club Al-Riyadh, announced that the club's administration is close to finalizing the deal to sign Egyptian professional Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet. Al-Muqail said in television statements on Monday evening on the program 'Fayeq in the World Cup' on MBC Masr 2: 'Matters are heading in the right direction and results may become clear within a day or two.' The sports official confirmed that the negotiations were temporarily halted during the Egyptian national team's participation in the 2026 World Cup out of respect for the player and the national team, and were resumed after the participation ended. He added: 'After the honorable participation ended, we returned to negotiations, and things are going positively,' noting the continued coordination with Trezeguet and his club Al Ahly of Egypt. Regarding the possibility of signing other Egyptian players, he clarified: 'So far nothing, but we are pleased to have players from Egypt in the Saudi League.' Trezeguet has a rich record, having scored 18 goals in 32 matches last season, and has had experiences in England, Turkey, Belgium, and Qatar, and also participated in 4 matches in the 2026 World Cup and scored a goal in Egypt's victory over New Zealand.
