Inter Miami CF completed the signing of Brazilian international midfielder Casemiro on Wednesday on a contract through 2027, with an option to extend through 2029, on a free transfer following the end of his contract with Manchester United.

The club said in a statement: "Inter Miami CF announced today the signing of Brazilian international midfielder Casemiro, with the player, a five-time UEFA Champions League winner, joining the team on a free transfer."

It added: "His contract runs through the end of the 2027 MLS season, with an option to extend through June 2029, and he will join the squad immediately upon completion of the necessary B1 visa procedures."

Casemiro (34) arrives in MLS to play alongside Argentine star Lionel Messi, after a storied career that began with Brazilian club Sao Paulo before moving to Real Madrid in 2013, where he became one of the world's foremost defensive midfielders.

Over eight seasons with the Spanish club, he played 336 matches, scoring 31 goals and providing 29 assists, contributing to 18 titles, most notably five UEFA Champions League titles, three La Liga titles, and three FIFA Club World Cup titles.

In 2022, he moved to Manchester United, where he played 160 matches, scoring 26 goals and providing 14 assists, and contributed to winning the FA Cup and the EFL Cup.

Internationally, Casemiro has played 91 matches for the Brazil national team, winning the 2019 Copa America. He also participated in the 2018, 2022, and 2026 World Cups, playing all of Brazil's matches in the 2026 World Cup, scoring a goal in the round of 32 and assisting another in the round of 16.
