Second time: Patten and Heliövaara win Wimbledon doubles
British Henry Patten and Finnish Harri Heliövaara won their third Grand Slam title together, beating Mate Pavić and Marcelo Arévalo 7-6, 7-6 to clinch the men's doubles title at Wimbledon for the second time on Saturday. Heliövaara, who won his first Wimbledon in 2024 during the first year of his partnership with Patten, said: 'These are the moments I've always dreamed of, playing on Centre Court at Wimbledon. But to do it twice, and with such great performance, makes me thank Henry for being the best partner in the world.' The match featured no break points, with each player holding serve, sending each set to a tiebreak, which Patten and his Finnish partner won. Heliövaara's quick volleys at the net and Patten's strong serving helped them take a 4-1 lead in the first-set tiebreak. Pavić and Arévalo tried to capitalize on a double fault by Patten to reduce the deficit, but the sixth-seeded duo failed. Patten and Heliövaara continued to pressure their opponents' serve in the second set, coming close to a break when the score reached 4-4 and 5-5, but Pavić and Arévalo held in both games, forcing another tiebreak. After Arévalo's shot hit the net, a serve from Patten gave him and Heliövaara a 3-0 lead, which proved too much for Pavić and Arévalo, winners of the 2024 French Open, to overcome.
