Hull City have bolstered their first-team squad with experienced Japanese midfielder Hidemasa Morita on a free transfer, signing a two-year contract with an option for an additional year. This is Hull City's fourth signing after they were promoted to the Premier League for the 2026/2027 season, following a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough in the play-off final at Wembley on May 23. Morita becomes the second Japanese player at Hull City, after winger Yu Hirakawa, who returned to Bristol after a season on loan, and the 17th Japanese to play in the Premier League. According to the club's official website, the 31-year-old Morita has 40 international caps and has played 370 matches in his career, winning eight major titles. Morita won two consecutive Primeira Liga titles and the Taça de Portugal during four seasons in Lisbon, scoring 11 goals and providing 16 assists in 166 matches. Morita made his professional debut for Kawasaki Frontale in February 2018, winning his first of two J1 League titles in his debut season.
