The Brazos County Sheriff's Office in Texas announced in a statement the death of American boxer Hannah Rapp on Saturday after she was hit by a car while riding a bicycle.

Rapp had fought Tiara Brown for the WBC featherweight title last month.

The American boxer (26) won eight and drew one of her first nine professional fights. She won the NABF featherweight title before losing to Brown by unanimous decision.

WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said, 'She was an exceptional boxer, but above all, she was an indispensable member of the boxing world... We share the grief of her loved ones, her team, and all who had the honor of knowing and supporting her throughout her remarkable career.'

The Brazos County Sheriff's Office confirmed the arrest of a person named Charles Medina (31) who was charged with criminally negligent homicide in Rapp's death.
