The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is probing the home of late Republican Senator Lindsey Graham in Washington, with FBI agents arriving at the late senator’s residence less than 48 hours after his death was announced due to an aortic tear.

The FBI and the U.S. Marshals Service participated in the investigations at the home located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Washington, D.C., and one of them came out with a paper file from a large black container placed in front of the house.

Graham passed away on Saturday at the age of 71, and according to the forensic report, he died as a result of a tear in the aorta, the main artery that carries blood from the heart to the rest of the body.

FBI Director Kash Patel said his office 'is providing assistance to local authorities and has provided all necessary resources' following Graham's death. The FBI declined to comment further on Patel's statement.

Those familiar with the matter noted that completing comprehensive toxicology and microscopic tests for Graham 'will take time, and these tests will determine whether the late senator had any substances in his system at the time of his death.'
