In my opinion, and in the opinion of everyone who witnessed Maradona, Messi is second, not first. However, the magnificent Messi has brought about a qualitative shift in modern football, creating a language of communication spoken by everyone on the planet. Nevertheless, Maradona remains a phenomenon the likes of which time has not seen. Today, Messi has shaped tastes and achieved numbers that have more impact and influence than his peers, which is where his distinction lies. To be a legend without achieving what Messi has achieved may not secure your place in the museum of football greats. In the realm of legends, there are truths and constants we must not overlook while analyzing these stars, and we must avoid being emotional in our opinions to ensure we do not fall into the trap of making evaluations for which we lack the tools.

Al-Nassr fans were angry with Prince Faisal bin Turki when he announced his support for Messi and Argentina, though the reason for this anger or reproach remains unclear. In their view, any Al-Nassr fan must support Ronaldo and no one else, a judgment that lacks any logic. Ronaldo is a great star, and we are happy to have him in the Saudi League, but we must embrace all opinions and feelings. The beauty of football lies in its competition, excitement, and joy, as it is fundamentally built on love, not hatred.

Prince Faisal bin Turki settled the matter with this post: “Dear brothers, this is the World Cup, not the Saudi League. I support Argentina and love Messi, but I am an Al-Nassr fan first and foremost, and I stand by whatever Al-Nassr needs.”

Therefore, we must respect the feelings of others regarding their favorite teams and stars. Those who blame the Prince for loving Messi and supporting Argentina should reconsider their approach to sports. As for those who drag Ronaldo into a comparison with Messi, their goal is cheap provocation, as such comparisons benefit Messi and do not harm Ronaldo.

Finally, Ahlam Mosteghanemi says: Only time will show you the truth when others lose their perspective.

As for history... do not expect it to have its say quickly in such cases.

It, too, is waiting.
