(CNN)-- Spain's head coach Luis de la Fuente expressed his delight at the 'Matador' team reaching the 2026 World Cup final.
Lamine Yamal's teammates reached the final scene of the World Cup, held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, after defeating France two goals to nil at the Dallas stadium on Tuesday.
In statements reported by EuroSport website on Wednesday night, De la Fuente said: 'It is difficult to describe what I feel now, but I will tell you it is the joy of leading such a team, I feel very nervous, reaching the World Cup final is a great honor, and we must absorb every moment, this makes us proud.'
He added: 'We were playing against one of the best teams in the world, but they were facing the best team in the world, and that is something different. These players deserve everything, they have great talent and made the difficult look easy.'
He continued: 'All sympathy and thanks for the strength they give us. It is an honor for me to be Spanish, let us continue in this way, and we will achieve great accomplishments.'
Meanwhile, Spanish player Pedro Porro, who scored the second goal against 'Les Bleus', said: 'It's a dream come true, even beyond my wildest dreams. I am very happy with the team spirit. We played a great match and gave our best. We faced a very strong opponent, and everyone deserves congratulations for this outstanding performance.'
He added: 'One of the important points in the match was ball possession. We knew that confronting their main strength was crucial.'
While Spanish player Mikel Oyarzabal, who scored the first goal, said: 'It's an incredible feeling. As a child watching the World Cup, you never imagined you would reach where you are today. We knew it would be a very difficult match, because with wide spaces, they (the opponent's players) can create a lot of danger. But with the ball, if we had patience, we would have chances, and that is exactly what happened.'
