Ferran Torres, the Spanish national team striker, stole the spotlight during the celebrations in the streets of his country after winning the FIFA World Cup title.

The Barcelona striker received a huge cheer from thousands of fans who gathered on Monday after he gave Spain its second title in history by scoring the winning goal against Argentina in the final match on Sunday night.

The Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo said: 'But what caused the biggest stir on social media was the hat Ferran Torres wore on the open-top bus.'

It pointed out that Torres's hat bore the slogan: 'Let's make Spain great again,' borrowing U.S. President Donald Trump's campaign slogan 'Make America Great Again.'

Trump attended the final match and sparked controversy for insisting on being on the podium after Spain captain Rodri was handed the trophy in New Jersey.

Mundo Deportivo concluded that, aside from that, Spanish midfielder Mikel Merino imitated Trump's famous dance in front of the U.S. president after the trophy was handed over.
