Michel Der Zakarian, the head coach of French side Nantes, expressed his surprise at the continued absence of Egyptian striker Mostafa Mohamed from team training in recent days.

Nantes began preparations for the new season in the French second division, after being relegated from the top flight last season, while Mostafa Mohamed missed the team's first friendly match against Fleury, which ended in a 5-0 victory for Nantes.

The Egyptian striker has been absent from the team since training resumed on June 24.

Der Zakarian commented on the player's absence in statements to the newspaper Ouest-France, saying: "Mostafa... I've never seen anything like this before!"

He added: "He made this decision. We'll see what happens when he returns."

According to the newspaper, Mostafa Mohamed's absence may be related to a salary reduction following Nantes' relegation to the second division, a scenario that reportedly caused great dissatisfaction for the player.
