Arsenal, the English Premier League champion, strengthened its squad with French goalkeeper Ilan Meslier as a backup after his contract with Leeds United ended, as the north London club announced on Thursday.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper, who was born and trained in Lorient, wore the colors of Leeds for seven seasons. He came out of last season disappointed with the 'Whites' after falling down the hierarchy, behind Brazilian goalkeepers Lucas Perri and Karl Darlow.
