For 40 Million, Barcelona Nears Adeyemi
Barcelona have reached an agreement with Karim Adeyemi to join the first team, and negotiations are currently underway with his club, Borussia Dortmund, to agree on the transfer fee, expected to be between 30 and 40 million euros. Spanish newspapers, including Marca, Mundo Deportivo, and American network ESPN, reported on Thursday, citing German media, that the signing of Adeyemi came at the request of German coach Hansi Flick, who has expressed great admiration for the player and his skills "that perfectly fit Barcelona's style." Karim is under contract with Dortmund until June 2027, which will facilitate negotiations. The German international (24 years old) has often been linked with Barcelona in the past when he was playing for Austrian side Salzburg, who previously rejected a €15 million offer from the Catalan club and preferred to transfer him to Dortmund in 2022 for an estimated €30 million, to fill the void left by the departure of Norwegian Erling Haaland to Manchester City. Marca mentioned that Karim is distinguished by his exceptional speed and very direct style, which poses a major threat to opposing defenses, as he could cover 30 meters in 3.78 seconds during his time with Salzburg. It also noted that Adeyemi takes pride in this speed and describes it as 'his greatest strength,' and highlighted a comment from Michael Feichtenbeiner, his coach in the German U-17 national team, to the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper, who stated that the player has exceptional speed and dynamism, fears nothing, and always seeks to face players one-on-one. Since arriving at Dortmund, Karim has played 146 matches, scored 36 goals, and provided 25 assists. He has also represented the German national team 11 times, scoring one goal, but was excluded from the last squad that participated in the 2026 World Cup.
