According to press reports, Mahrez has become the primary target for both clubs, who are seeking to benefit from his vast experience gained during his professional career, whether with Leicester City and Manchester City in the English Premier League, or with Al-Ahli Saudi. The reports added that the identity of the two clubs has not been revealed yet, but one of them has an important advantage: guaranteed participation in the next edition of the AFC Champions League Elite, which could give it an edge in the race to sign the player.

The Qatari interest in Mahrez comes at a time when the name of the former Algeria captain has been linked with a move to multiple destinations, most notably Italian side Inter Milan and Turkish side Fenerbahçe, before Qatari league clubs entered the negotiation line strongly.

Mahrez is expected to decide his new destination in the coming weeks, amid the multiple offers he has received following the end of his stint with Al-Ahli Saudi.
