Spain needed an extra-time goal from substitute Ferran Torres to narrowly beat defending champion Argentina, playing with ten men, 1-0 and win the FIFA World Cup on Sunday.

Torres broke the deadlock early in the second half of extra time, firing home after the ball rebounded to him to give the European champion its second World Cup title. Argentina were reduced to 10 men after Enzo Fernández was sent off for a second yellow card in stoppage time of the second half.
