Aston Villa announces signing of Garnacho
English club Aston Villa announced on Thursday the signing of Argentine Alejandro Garnacho, becoming the third player to join the club during the ongoing summer transfer window.
Aston Villa's official website stated that the Argentine international signed a one-year loan deal from Chelsea.
Aston Villa clarified that the player will wear the number 17 shirt at Aston Villa, the same number he wore during his time at Manchester United.
Garnacho also wore the same number during his eight international appearances for the Argentine national team.
Aston Villa had previously signed Swiss Johan Manzambi from German side Freiburg and Brazilian João Gomes from English side Wolverhampton.
The British news agency reported that there is a mandatory clause for the transfer to become permanent next year if certain criteria are met.
In early July, it was decided that Garnacho would leave Chelsea after learning that he might not get the necessary playing time under new head coach Xabi Alonso.
Garnacho scored eight goals in 43 matches for Chelsea across all competitions last season, but he failed to make a good impression on the fans since joining from Manchester United.
