Postecoglou Arrives in Riyadh

Australian coach Ange Postecoglou (60) arrived in Riyadh yesterday, Sunday, to officially begin his new role as head coach of Al-Nassr.

Al-Nassr had officially announced last Friday that they had signed Postecoglou on a two-season contract until summer 2028, succeeding Portuguese Jorge Jesus, who led the team to win the Saudi Roshn League title last season. Club officials welcomed the Australian coach upon his arrival, and he headed directly to the club headquarters to complete administrative procedures and sign the official contract in the presence of sporting director Simon Cotinho.

In his first statement after arriving, Postecoglou expressed great enthusiasm for this new experience, saying: 'Coming to Riyadh and starting this project is an exciting challenge in my career. Al-Nassr is more than a club... it is a historic institution with an exceptional fan base, and my goal is to build a team that reflects this greatness on the pitch.' He added: 'I came here to win titles. The Saudi league has become a global competition, and we have the players and resources for Al-Nassr to lead the scene locally and in Asia. Work starts immediately.' Postecoglou is known for his bold attacking philosophy, based on high pressing, possession, and high defensive lines, which brought him notable success with Scottish Celtic and English Tottenham Hotspur. Al-Nassr officials hope this style will give the team a distinct identity next season, especially with big stars like Cristiano Ronaldo. Al-Nassr enters a new era with Postecoglou's arrival, hoping to retain the league title and compete strongly for continental honors, amid great administrative and fan ambitions.
