Chelsea signs Morgan Rogers for £117m
English club Chelsea announced on Tuesday the official signing of striker Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa on a contract until June 2033. English press reports and Transfermarkt indicated the deal is Chelsea's largest at £117 million, surpassing the previous record for Ecuadorian midfielder Moises Caicedo in 2023, which was £115 million from Brighton. Reports added that the 23-year-old England international, who played in the 2026 World Cup, can play as winger and attacking midfielder. Rogers said after signing his new contract: 'I am very excited. For me, Chelsea is the biggest club in London, a club I have always admired since I was a child.' He added in statements published on the club's official website: 'I am very excited about the project with the new coach, the players, and the direction the club is heading. That is why I am here.' Rogers established himself as one of the most prominent young attacking talents in the Premier League. During his time at Aston Villa, his goals and assists contributed to 40 goals in 85 matches, leading his team to fourth place before winning the Europa League. Since his debut for the England senior team in November 2024, Rogers has become a regular and played in 22 matches.
