Before the World Cup clash... Konaté responds to Yamal with strong words
After Morocco's elimination, the French national team is one step away from reaching the World Cup final for the third consecutive time, following the 2018 edition which they won and the 2022 edition which they lost to Argentina.
But to reach this decisive stage, Les Bleus will have to overcome Spain, led by Lamine Yamal, in the semi-final on Tuesday evening.
This match is seen as a repeat of previous encounters, given the history between the two teams over the past two years: La Roja defeated France in Euro 2024 (2-1), and then in the UEFA Nations League in summer 2025 (5-4), both in the semi-finals.
After Spain's 2-1 victory over Belgium in the quarter-finals, Lamine Yamal issued a warning to Les Bleus, saying: 'We have beaten France in our last two matches. If France has to fear anyone, it's us... We'll see what happens, but we are not afraid.'
Ibrahima Konaté, the French national team player, responded to the young Barcelona star's remarks: 'No, no, no... Honestly, we don't care about what is said.'
The new Real Madrid player clarified in a press conference on Sunday: 'We must not fear anyone; we have to stay humble and not fall into this trap, especially at this stage of the tournament.'
He concluded: 'Now, he can say whatever he wants, we will try to prepare as best we can. And at the end of the match, we will see who wins.'
