An Argentine journalist revealed that Albiceleste captain Lionel Messi made a special humanitarian gesture towards Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha and his family before the 2026 World Cup final.

After a marathon journey in the World Cup through the knockout stages, the Argentine national team failed to clinch the World Cup title, losing to Spain 1-0 last Sunday, as Spain claimed their second star.

According to Argentine journalist Yanina Latorre, Messi personally ensured the provision of free tickets for a number of people who could not afford to attend the final, giving them the opportunity to watch the event from the stands.

She added that the initiative also included four members of Vozinha's family, after Messi directed his representatives to secure free tickets for them to attend the final.

Messi gave tickets to people who couldn't buy them, including the family of Cape Verde goalkeeper Josimar Vozinha.

Messi had faced Vozinha in the round of 32 of the tournament, when he led Argentina to a 3-2 win over Cape Verde, a match in which the veteran goalkeeper caught the eye with outstanding saves that nearly deprived the world champions of progress.
