Turkish club Besiktas has entered serious steps in the race to sign Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, after Turkish reports revealed that the club submitted its first official offer to the player, as part of its efforts to conclude one of the most prominent summer transfers.

Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu reported via his X account on Friday that Besiktas officials held a meeting with Salah's agent Rami Abbas, followed by submitting the first offer to sign the Egypt captain, noting that the coming hours could be decisive for the deal's future.

He explained that Salah showed flexibility in his financial demands, having lowered his annual salary ceiling compared to what he previously requested, which gave the negotiations a strong boost. These developments coincided with Rami Abbas's appearance in Istanbul, where he posted a photo from the Turkish capital on his social media account, increasing speculation about the player's imminent move to the Turkish league. The indicators further increased after Besiktas board member Ahmed Çağlar posted a photo bearing the name "Salah" on his Instagram account, a step that sparked widespread interaction among the club's fans. The messages did not stop there, as Besiktas fans chanted Mohamed Salah's name during the presentation ceremony of new signing Leandro Trossard, attended by about 20,000 fans, chanting: "Oh God, in the name of God, Mohamed Salah." Rami Abbas had further increased uncertainty about the player's future, writing on X: "We still don't know where Mohamed Salah will play next season, but maybe we will know very soon." This comes after the end of Salah's journey with Liverpool, which lasted nine years, and he recently finished his participation with the Egyptian national team in the 2026 World Cup, following elimination in the round of 16 against Argentina.
