Post Malone, Nicole Scherzinger, Robbie Williams and Tom Cruise were among the top American stars at the World Cup closing ceremony, which kicked off Sunday at MetLife Stadium ahead of the big final between Spain and Argentina.

This first segment, which began at 1:30 p.m. local time (7:30 p.m. in France), is supposed to celebrate 'the extraordinary journey of the tournament across the three host countries and the 16 host cities.'

The stadium floor was covered with a flag depicting New York City landmarks, such as the Statue of Liberty.

Also present were Robbie Williams, Laura Pausini and Nicole Scherzinger, performers of the official anthem 'Desire', alongside rapper Post Malone. American content creator IShowSpeed, whose channels have 160 million subscribers, was also invited, while Oscar-winning singer and actress Jennifer Hudson will perform the U.S. national anthem.

It is not yet known what Tom Cruise, known for performing the craziest dangerous stunts, will present to the audience at MetLife Stadium near New York. The Hollywood star two years ago rappelled down the Stade de France during the flag handover ceremony between the Paris 2024 Olympics and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

The ceremony is being held in front of stands that remain nearly empty due to extremely stringent security measures at the stadium entrances, as the arrival of U.S. President Donald Trump is expected.
