Colombia completes round of 16 lineup with win over Ghana
Colombia completed the lineup for the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup, after a 1-0 win over Ghana in Kansas City, at the conclusion of the round of 32 matches.
John Arias, midfielder for Brazilian club Palmeiras, scored the only goal in the 14th minute from close range, capitalizing on a cross from Luis Suárez, who came on as a substitute for the injured John Córdoba.
Luis Díaz thought he had doubled Colombia's lead in the 56th minute, but the referee disallowed the goal for offside.

Colombia dominated most of the match, while Ghana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi kept his team in the game with three outstanding saves.
With this win, Colombia became the last team to qualify for the round of 16, and will face Switzerland next Tuesday in Vancouver, after the Swiss team defeated Algeria 2-0.
