The Spanish national team avoided losing one of its key players in the current summit against the French national team at Dallas Stadium, in the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup.

In one of the controversial moments, Michael Olise violently lunged into Rodri's ankle, but the match referee did not show any card to the French star in that incident.

The 'Archivo VAR' account on 'X' platform attacked what it described as the 'cowardice' of the video assistant referee (VAR) referees for not intervening in that incident to call the match referee to review it.

The account indicated that Olise arrived late in his attempt to win the ball, which led to his studs planting into the outer side of Rodri's ankle, causing it to twist.

'Archivo VAR' added that the incident deserved a direct red card, as it clearly endangered the physical safety of the Spanish player.

Had this sending-off occurred, it would have completely complicated the French team's task in the match, as Spain managed to take the lead through Mikel Oyarzabal in the 22nd minute, benefiting from a penalty kick won by Lamine Yamal after being fouled by Lucas Digne.
