The first titles of the 2026 Esports World Cup were registered under the name of team NaVi, after its Mexican player Luis Guadalupe Castillo Gómez, known as Dark Angel, was crowned champion of the 'Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves' competition, while the Japanese team Unlimit was crowned champion of the 'Apex Legends' tournament, making them the first title winners in the third edition of the global event hosted by the French capital Paris until August 23.
Dark Angel achieved the first title of the 2026 World Cup, after defeating in the final the Japanese Kenta Ichihara, representative of Virtus.pro, with a score of (5-1), after an exceptional journey in which he overturned a (0-3) deficit against Reynald Tacuan, player of Elite Esports, in the quarter-finals to a thrilling 5-4 victory, before surpassing the Japanese Naoki Nemoto, known as Nemo, in the semi-finals with a score of (4-3).
The champion received a cash prize of $250,000 from the total competition prizes of $1 million, granting his team NaVi 1000 points in the club tournament standings, while Nemo secured third place after defeating his compatriot Lajia with a score of (5-2), adding 500 points to the account of team Saishunkan Sol Kumamoto.
In the 'Apex Legends' competition, the Japanese team Unlimit, consisting of Yularieman, Xtsufi, and Bis, returned to the podium after securing the title in the tenth round through a decisive match (3 vs 2) against their compatriots Zeta Division.
Player Bis took advantage of the high ground advantage to eliminate his last opponent and give his team the title, and was also crowned MVP of the tournament, recording 39 eliminations, 35 assists, and 50 knockdowns during the competition.
