A media report said on Friday that a young French girl died in an accident while celebrating the French football team's victory over its Moroccan counterpart in the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

Europe 1 radio reported that the 17-year-old girl climbed onto a truck, then fell from above and was run over by the vehicle, according to the radio's report from emergency services.

The truck driver was arrested, and another young man who witnessed the incident was taken to hospital after suffering from shock.

The French team defeated its Moroccan counterpart 2-0 on Thursday.

France had strengthened security measures across the country, especially in the capital Paris.

But French media reported on Friday that conditions were mostly calm after the match, although there was a possibility of disturbances due to the presence of more than two million people of Moroccan origin or holding Moroccan nationality in France.

RMC Sport network reported that 10 people were arrested in the greater Paris area for various offenses.
