England, reduced to ten men, eliminated Mexico, one of the host nations, from the round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, after a hard-fought and thrilling 3–2 victory on Sunday at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.

Despite playing with ten men for over half an hour after the sending off of Jarrell Quansah (54'), the 'Three Lions' advanced to the quarterfinals thanks to the outstanding duo Jude Bellingham (36' and 38') and Harry Kane (60' penalty), while Julián Quiñones (42') and Raúl Jiménez (69' penalty) scored Mexico's goals.

England will face Norway in the quarterfinals on Saturday in Miami, after Norway eliminated Brazil 2-1 earlier.
